Is "Pensacola Talent Show" like American Idol?
Our event, "Castle Call", does offer a singing competition. However, our events span a whole spectrum of artistic competitions, and we never require our contestants to audition in front of a small panel of judges. We believe everyone deserves the same opportunity to be seen and/or heard in front of a live audience. Plus, we allow contestants of all ages in every event we offer.
Why do your events require a registration fee?
Special consideration was given regarding a registration fee. It was finally decided necessary for several reasons:
1) Our events will have a cover charge. Because we accept contestants on a "first come, first registered" basis, if contestants do not make some sort of investment in their promise to perform, the chances of having a lot of "no shows" in front of a paying audience would be greater than if contestants stand to lose a non-refundable registration fee.
2) We want to ensure that our contestants receive any and all prizes promised and worked hard for.
3) We will be holding our events in local venues with large seating capacities, and the rental costs are high. We simply would not be able to offer our events without the help of registration fees.
Do you have to be local to compete in events or contests?
Nope. Our events are only held locally: in Pensacola, Florida -- however -- if you can get here, we'd love to have you! (Please see our Travel Info page.) Our contests are offered online or through the mail, and anyone may enter those, as well.
Do you have to be local to participate in:
PTS PROMISE? Yes. This is a service offered to locals only.
PTS PROMOTE? Not necessarily. While our meetings are held only in Pensacola, Florida, there are links and buttons on the PTS PROMOTE site you may use and follow to raise Arts awareness in your area.
PTS PARAGON? No. Free listing is open to anyone!
(*As a general rule, if you are listed in the Pensacola phone book, you are considered local, so this does include surrounding areas.)
